Acupuncture is a holistic healing approach that helps realign the energy in your body through the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Licensed acupuncturist Jainen Shin will insert sterilized needles into your skin at the proper depth to get your energy back into alignment. Every needle is inserted into a specific meridian point, a point on the body where energy collects and disperses, to make sure the flow of your body is properly put into balance. A variety of issues are treated with Acupuncture such as headaches, joint and low back pain, allergies, arthritis, sciatica, depression, and other ailments you may experience. Additional methods like cupping are used to help relieve tension that you may be feeling in your body. Since TCM focuses on treating the body as a whole, licensed acupuncturist Jainen Shin will also use herbs for her patients that will benefit from cleansing the body from the inside out. Acupuncture Q & A
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of TCM that uses sterile needles to open up energy channels throughout the body. Your acupuncturist inserts these needles along specific pathways called meridians.
Acupuncture removes energy blocks, allowing your “Qi,” which translates from Chinese into English as life force or energy, to balance the body and return to homeostasis. When you have energy blocks, you may experience a range of health issues, including pain, disease, and emotional fatigue.
Licensed acupuncturist Jainen Shin also uses electro-needling. The procedure starts with traditional acupuncture practices, then Jainen attaches the needles to a machine that sends electric pulses through them. Electro-needling can enhance the effects of acupuncture and increase endorphin release throughout the body.
Are there other TCM methods available?
Besides Acupuncture, cupping and herbology is also available. Any other interests or questions about the benefits and methods of TCM can be answered by scheduling an appointment with licensed acupuncturist Jainen Shin.
What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping therapy is a method of TCM that helps to promote circulation within the body by using the power of suction created by heated cups. Muscular tension that comes from physical activity or an injury is relieved by the heated cups being placed on certain meridian lines.
Licensed acupuncturist Jainen Shin will strategically set these cups on your meridian lines and will instruct you to stay still for about 20 minutes so that your body can let the cupping do its work.
The neck, back, and shoulders are areas that will receive cupping therapy to relieve stiff muscles, reduce swelling and inflammation and bring relief to pressure points within the body.
Cupping therapy is effective at restoring muscular function and eliminating stress both before and after a significant sporting event. Other conditions that are treated with cupping therapy are:
- Coughs and colds
- Headaches, including migraines
This therapy also boosts the immune system, enhances the body’s natural detoxification processes, and promotes relaxation.
What is ElectroAcupuncture?
Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. According to some acupuncturists, this practice augments the use of regular acupuncture, can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain.
What does Acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture treats a variety of musculoskeletal issues and enhances other therapies that may be used to help reduce any discomfort that you may feel in your body. Some common conditions Jainen treats with acupuncture include the following:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Joint and low back pain
If you have been dealing with any of these conditions then book your appointment today.
